PLAYER INFORMATION
2018 U.S. WOMEN’S OPEN SECTIONAL QUALIFYING
INDUSTRY HILLS GOLF CLUB (EISENHOWER)

REGISTRATION:
There will be no formal registration at this event.
STARTING TIMES AND PAIRINGS:
Starting times and pairings will be e-mailed to players and posted online at scga.org one week in advance of the tournament. Starting times for Round 1 will range from 7:00 a.m. to approximately 9:30 a.m. For Round 2, starting times will range from 12:30 p.m. to approximately 2:30 p.m.
Players are encouraged to arrive at their assigned tee well in advance of their starting time, as the SCGA starter will have information to discuss and distribute to each player in the group. Furthermore, players arriving late will be penalized under Rule 6-3a of the Rules of Golf. For example, the 9:00 a.m. starting time is defined as 9:00:00, and players arriving after that time are considered late. Lead groups should plan to be at their assigned tee 10 minutes in advance of their starting time. Subsequent groups are encouraged to arrive in time to watch the group in front of them tee off.
PRACTICE ROUNDS:
Contestants must contact the Industry Hills Golf Shop to arrange a practice round at (626) 810-4653. Practice rounds will be issued on a space available basis at the discretion of the club. When calling, players should identify themselves as a participant in the U.S. Women's Open Sectional Qualifier.
Practice Round Fee: Member rates apply (golf cart included).
FORMAT:
All players will compete in a 36-hole stroke-play qualifying round. Qualifiers will advance to the 73rd U.S. Women’s Open Championship which will be held at Shoal Creek in Shoal Creek, AL, May 28 – June 3, 2018. The final number of qualifying spots at each site will be available from the Committee on the day of play.
TEES:
A variety of yardages will be used throughout this qualifier. Please refer to the Yardages section on the event portal for hole-by-hole yardages.
Course Rating: 78.7 / Slope: 148 / approximately 6,587 yards / Par 72.
DRIVING RANGE:
The Driving Range will be open by 6:00 a.m. on the day of the qualifier. Range balls will be provided compliments of the Industry Hills GC on the driving range.
FOOD SERVICE AND PURCHASES:
The snack bar will be open from 6:00 a.m. until the conclusion of play. Cash and all major credit cards will be accepted for all

RULES OF PLAY:
Play is governed by the Rules of Golf. Local Rules in effect will be found on the USGA Hard Card and the Notice to Players addendum distributed at the site. Disregard all other club posted Local Rules including those on the back of the club’s score card.
The "one-ball" rule will be in effect. During the entire stipulated round the balls a player plays must be of the same brand and type as detailed by a single entry on the current list of Conforming Golf Balls.
Groove Condition of Competition
In Local (first stage) and Sectional (second stage) Qualifying as well as in the Championship proper, the player’s clubs must conform to the groove specifications in the Rules of Golf effective January 1, 2010. Note: Ping EYE2 clubs manufactured prior to April 1990 may not be used during Local and Sectional Qualifying as well as the Championship proper. The Condition of Competition is available for review on the entry application.
The USGA and R&A have created a reference resource called the Informational Club Database to assist golfers in determining whether their irons, hybrids and fairway woods, which were manufactured prior to January 1, 2010, comply with the Rules of Golf and are permissible for play under the groove condition of competition, which is in effect for all USGA Championships. The USGA strongly suggests that all players verify the conformance of their clubs well in advance of their scheduled qualifying competition. It is the player’s responsibility, not the USGA’s responsibility to ensure that his clubs conform. Waiting until the day of the competition is the fault of the player. The Committee is under no obligation to test the club the competitor may play. However, if it is later determined that the club is non-conforming, including after the competition has closed, the player will be disqualified.
AUTOMOTIVE TRANSPORTATION / PULL CARTS & PUSH CARTS:
Golf carts are prohibited during the qualifier. Pull carts or push carts are permitted. Industry Hills GC does not have pull or push carts available for rental. Shuttles will be provided on certain holes to transport players and this is the only time players are permitted to ride in a golf cart.
DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES AND CELL PHONES:
Distance measuring devices are NOT permitted.
CADDIES & SPECTATORS:
Players may provide their own caddie (See section on Automotive Transportation). Caddies must adhere to the dress code listed in section below. Spectators are permitted but are not allowed in carts. Spectators must adhere to all policies set forth by the club.
DRESS CODE:
Players and caddies must be properly attired in golf shirts, slacks, Bermuda-length dress or golf shorts and soft spike shoes. Jeans (any color or any kind), T-shirts and tank tops will not be permitted. Shirts must be tucked in and hats are to be worn forward at all times.
PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT:
By submitting an entry for any SCGA-administered competition, the contestant understands that his/her participation is at the sole discretion of the SCGA. A contestant may be removed from any competition at the discretion of the SCGA staff or Rules and Competitions Committee at any time before or during the competition. Incidents of unbecoming conduct or actions deemed to be detrimental to the image of the SCGA or the “Spirit of the Game” are grounds for such removal and suspension from future SCGA-administered competitions. These include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Willful damage of the golf course or golf course property
- Club throwing or unnecessary club tossing
- Offensive or unbecoming language
- Public criticism of golf course or verbal abuse of SCGA staff, officials, volunteers, host club staff or other contestants
- Potential endangerment of others
- Conduct deemed unbecoming
- Failure to post scores for handicapping purposes
- Manipulation of scores posted for handicapping purposes
CANCELLATIONS:
To withdraw for any reason prior to the start of an USGA competition, a player must notify the SCGA Rules and Competitions Department at (818) 980-3630 AND the USGA Championship Administration Department at (908) 234-2300.
